So, let's get started.

What is On Page SEO?

On Page SEO is the practice (or say technique) of optimizing web-pages of your website in order to rank them higher in search engine to achieve more user engagement.

In terms, On Page SEO is the process of doing enhancement within your own web-page.

In general, On Page SEO includes couple of things that you need to take care of while writing and publishing your blog post. Those things includes writing SEO friendly titles & metadescription, optimizing content as well as HTML source code of your page, adding relavent keywords, etc...etc...

On the other hand, Off Page SEO include things that are not within your control and which are outside of your own web-pages. Such as Backlinks.

Assuming you understood the term On Page SEO, it's time to discuss some important On Page SEO tactics.

Here are several tactics to optimize web-page for On Page SEO

How to properly use Heading tags?

You may have come across the different heading tags such as H1, H2, H3, H4. But do you know where to use it properly to make your content more SEO friendly.

Let me tell you.

Well, let's talk about H1 tag first. This H1 tag is like a father of all heading tags and it makes a lot of difference in SEO. So we have to be very careful about what content (or keywords) we are wrapping in this H1 tag.

So, what you should wrap in H1 tag?

Answer to this question is very clear. You definitely need to wrap your post title with H1 tag. Because your post title is the brand ambassador of the content inside your post. Your post title is the first thing that user will notice when your web-page appears on search results.

Other heading tags such as H2 & H3, you can use it to cover subheadings inside your post.

Optimize your page loading speed

Well, in today's world, people are very busy and they are always in rush.

Let's see an example,

Assume you go to food store and ordered some food for yourself. But what if it takes time to make your food and give it to you to eat. Are you not going to be angry or irritated?

Similarly consider users as a customer to your website. They searched for a query on search engine and your post came up in the search result. User clicked on your webpage but what if your page takes time to load and to give information what users are looking for. Are they not gonna leave your website?

So, it is better that you properly optimize your page loading speed so that it can load in no time to give users what they want. Also make sure that your webpages doesn't take more time to load during high traffic.

How to optimize page loading speed?

Below are the couple things that you can do to make your page load fast.

#1. Reduce image size

If you have posted a guide which includes couple of images and if that page is taking more time to load, you can try reducing the size of that images.

#2. Don't use heavy theme on your blog

Well, if you are using a heavy theme which is heavily materialised and have number of blog widgets, your site definitely going to take time to load. So, it is better for you to use some clean and simple theme on your blog.

Write SEO friendly titles & meta-description

As we discussed that you should cover your page title with H1 tag. But how to write proper SEO friendly title? What keywords to use in the page title?

Well, in your post title, you must need to include atleast one keyword on which your post is focused about.

For example if your post is about On Page SEO, then you can write your post title like,

On Page SEO : A guide that enlightens you from the scratch

On Page SEO : A complete guide that matters to beginner

So, when you are writing post title, try using catchy keywords. Don't try to use simple words in your title.

Write SEO friendly Meta description:

Meta description is the summary of your post. When you search for something on google, you will see some snippet below the post title of every search result. That is Meta description.

Meta description is also important because it meant to summarise the entire content in just 2-3 line of  words. It helps users to know more about what they are going to find inside your post.

You might be aware that there's limit on characters that you can or should use in your post title. Ideally you post title should be max 50-60 characters long. So, sometimes you may be unable to get audience attention just by your post title because of that character limit.

Well, Meta description is the next thing after the post title that user will notice when your webpage appears on search results. And this meta description could be 150-200 character long which are capable enough to catch the eyes of your audience.

So, try writing good metadescription because it make sense.

Include targeted keyword within first few paragraphs of your post

When you decide to write an article, you probably have some topics or things to cover throughout your post. But before you start writing, think about a related keyword for which you want to rank that article and accordingly fit that keyword at convenient place within first few paragraphs of your article.

Enhance URLs structure

URL structure also matter a little bit in SEO.

Before publishing any of your article, look at the URL of that article. In blogger blog, you may have noticed that automatic permalink option is selected by default and according to that your URL may contain some of the words from your title but it includes only first few words. And this kind URL structure doesn't look professional & organized.

So, try to use custom permalink option and try inserting targeted keywords in your URLs. Also make sure that your URL is not too long.

Include external links in your article

Including external links is not as much as effective as other On page SEO techniques. But if it makes a somewhat difference then why don't take it.

When you include external links on your page, it helps google to better understand your content based on the relavent external page which you have linked in your article.

So, try to include external links in your page. You can add external links in form of reference link or in other terms.

That's it my friend, let's wrap this up.
